Having initially closed the door on Kylian Mbappe possibly making his way to the Santiago Bernabeu, a new report has suggested that Real Madrid have made a massive U-turn regarding the French superstar.
African Star To Make Shock Barcelona Exit?
Throughout the 2021/22 season, Mbappe was heavily tipped to be Real's newest Galactico as the France international appeared set to run down his contract with Paris Saint-Germain until it expired at the end of the campaign.
The 24-year-old, however, opted to make the controversial decision to re-sign with the Ligue 1 giants in May last year, leaving Los Blancos fuming at the forward and his representatives.
After that extension was signed, the reigning European and Spanish champions publicly talked down any possibility of Mbappe making his way to Madrid in the future, but according to The Athletic, Real have been communicating with the attacker and his representatives discreetly through back channels.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was reportedly pressured by the French and Qatari governments to stay in Paris ahead of his decision to re-sign with the Ligue 1 side.
Political pressure, along with the money PSG were offering, compelled the forward to ink a two-year extension with the record French top flight winners, with the player having the option of an additional third year too.
The same report suggests that the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner feels unsettled at the club because of the lack of world-class acquisitions the PSG hierarchy have brought through the door since.
It is said Mbappe wanted Robert Lewandowski, Milan Skriniar and Aurelien Tchouameni to make their way to the Parc des Prince in the hopes of helping the club claim its first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy, but none of those players were signed.
Shock Decision Made For Ronaldo Debut Against PSG
Couple that with the simmering tensions that have emerged between Mbappe and Neymar this season, and it appears the former Monaco prodigy is not entirely comfortable at the capital club.
Should an opportunity present itself for Real to acquire the France international, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez will likely have the money ready to place a bid as it is still believed to be a dream of Mbappe's to one day wear the famous white of Real.
