Despite activating numerous economic levers during the off-season, Barcelona have now been hit with a €800 000 (R14 million) fine for breaching multiple LaLiga Financial Fair Play rules.
The Blaugrana have seemingly struggled to navigate their way out of their precarious financial position, having reportedly once again been victims of the league's strict financial policies.
According to Catalan news outlet Ara, the Spanish giants have now been fined three times by LaLiga for infringing on the league's financial fair play policy.
All three violations relate to the 2021/22 season and involve former right-back Dani Alves and the centre-back pairing of Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen.
In the case of Alves, Barca are accused of exceeding the salary limit when they signed the veteran Brazilian as a free agent.
The signing of Christensen, who arrived at the Camp Nou as a free agent from Chelsea during the off-season, is regarded as a deal that took place last season and, as a result, is also being penalised.
The third and final breach has to do with the Uruguay international Araujo. The 23-year-old central defender inked a new deal with the Catalan outfit in April 2022 but with the club having not yet registered the new contract, LaLiga have handed them another fine.

All three of these breaches accumulate to an amount of €800 000, but the five-time European champions have decided to appeal all three decisions taken by the league.
Barca will once again be allowed to use economic levers going forward, but will only be allowed to use 5% of the revenue generated from sales of specific assets for transfers and contract extensions.
