After 126 caps and 33 goals, Belgium captain Eden Hazard has confirmed his retirement from international football following his nation's disastrous 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Ronaldo's Next Club 'Confirmed'
The Real Madrid man's announcement comes days after the European nation were dumped out of the tournament at the group stage.
Belgium finished third in Group F after beating Canada in their opening game, before losing to Morocco and drawing with Croatia.
On his official Instagram account, the 31-year-old wrote: "A page turns today… Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unparalleled support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008. I have decided to put an end to my international career.
"The succession is ready. I will miss you."
The winger made his debut for the Red Devils in 2008 against Luxembourg and went on to be capped on another 125 occasions.
Perhaps the crowning moment of his international career was when he and his nation made it to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, where they were beaten by eventual winners France.
They did, however, leave Russia with a bronze medal after beating England in the third-place play-off match.
Enrique Reacts To Spain's World Cup Exit
Hazard's retirement is not the only fallout from Belgium's World Cup campaign, with head coach Roberto Martinez also announcing his resignation as national days earlier.
