News breaking in Europe suggests ex-Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is edging closer to joining a new club in the January transfer window.
Calls In Portugal For Ronaldo To Be Dropped
According to Marca, the 37-year-old will make the move to Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr when the upcoming window opens.
Ronaldo departed the Red Devils before Portugal's 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign kicked off and was believed to be immediately pursued by the Saudi club.
The Spanish publication reports that Ronaldo will earn around €200 million (R3.6 billion) a season in the Middle East, where he could reportedly remain following the conclusion of the World Cup.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner left the Red Devils as a free agent last month following his explosive interview with British journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan, making him one of just a few players to star in a World Cup without being attached to a club.
Ronaldo's comments about Erik ten Hag and United were believed to leave many associated with the English giants disappointed, leading to the mutual termination of his contract.
Second Club Linked With Free Agent Ronaldo
Reports last week suggested the ex-Real Madrid talisman would still prefer to play in the UEFA Champions League, but it seems to be becoming increasingly likely that he will join Al Nassr next month.
