After ending Mamelodi Sundowns' winning streak against Orlando Pirates, head coach Jose Riveiro has turned his attention to stopping another losing streak against rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
Before Riveiro's arrival at the start of the season, Sundowns were on a five-match winning run against Pirates in all competitions but that is now in the past after the Spanish mentor helped the Buccaneers knock the Brazilians out of the MTN8.
The focus has now turned to Chiefs, who have won the last three league matches against Pirates.

Riveiro has explained what will make his first derby different and how they plan to get the better of Amakhosi.
"About how (to) get rid of their dominance, I'm not thinking about that, like I said already in other occasions, we're just living today and then tomorrow," Riveiro said in the Soweto Derby pre-match press conference.
"And after tomorrow, we're thinking about the game that is coming, it's gonna be a different scenario than in the previous derbies, with a full crowd.
"I think it's the first time after the Covid and that will create a different game than the recent ones, for sure with a new team, with a new coaching staff, in both teams, so I think it's a new story, it's a new chapter of this beautiful story between these two big clubs," he said.
"We gonna try to do the things as usual, trying to dominate the game, trying to get the lead as soon as possible and try to give the answers that the game is going to ask."
It was suggested to Riveiro that Chiefs' style of play could be the same as Sundowns, as they also prefer playing with possession and could that play into the hands of Pirates, who are good with counter-attacking football?
"Our intention is to have the ball always, sometimes it's possible, sometimes not, it depends on the approach of the opponent, it depends on where are they pressing, are they gonna press high? Because possession, where?" Riveiro responded.

"I said many times I want to have a lot of possession, I would like to have a lot of possession, do I want to have the ball one minute? It depends. Am I leading or not, is the opponent in low block, is in high block? It depends.
"What I want is to have a lot of attacks, attack a lot of times, is it going to take six seconds to be in the goals? I'm not going to take 12 (seconds) if I can decide, you know. My players must decide," he went on.
"If we have the space to run, to attack, to be aggressive, to be vertical, like I said, the game is asking for many different things during 90 minutes and we need to give the right answers. That's what it means to be competitive for me," he added.
