Barely two weeks after Under-17s lifted the 2022 GDL Youth Championship, another of Chiefs' youth teams managed to claim silverware.
This time, Coach David Mathebula's under-19 side were crowned the 2022 Engen Champ of Champs winners following their 2-1 win over Cape Town City in the final on Wednesday.
In July, Chiefs Reserves were crowned Champions of the 2022 DStv Diski Shield, while in that same month Chiefs won the Gauteng leg of the U18 Knockout Challenge after beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
An ecstatic David Mathebula, who was recently brought back to Naturena revealed his delight of lifting his first piece of silverware as a coach, which earned him the Coach of the Tournament accolade.
"We are very proud of the team for this big achievement. They really worked hard in the heat and brought joy to many faces. We applaud the hard work and discipline the boys displayed. We need to keep working hard and ensure we win more of these tournaments, so the guys have the winning mentality from a young age," Mathebula told the club's media department.
