Al Ahly's new head coach Marcel Koller has made his ambitions known for the 2022/23 season as he begins the process of succeeding Ricardo Soares at the club.
Al Ahly To 'Replace' Ex-Downs Attacker With Tau's Former Teammate
The Red Devils are coming off the back of a disappointing 2021/22 campaign, in which, following Pitso Mosimane departure, the club failed to improve their erratic form under Portuguese tactician Soares.
The Club of the Century finished outside of the Egyptian Premier League's top two for this first time since the 1991/92 season, subsequently leading to the 47-year-old's sacking.
Koller has since been appointed, and is keen to remedy the team's inconsistent performances, but has also set some lofty ambitions for the club as well as himself.
"Coaching Al Ahly is like a new challenge for me, and I want to win it," he said in an interview with the club's official website.
"Working with a team like Al Ahly is a great opportunity for me. I want to win the CAF Champions League title and all the local championships.
"My goal is to win everything with Al Ahly.
"Winning trophies requires a lot of effort and work, and I am confident that the players will do everything possible to win."

Despite his vast experience in Europe, having coached sides such as the Austrian national team and FC Koln, Koller has never coached outside of the continent, but his next adventure in the Egyptian capital is one he is relishing.
"As a coach, I have a great experience. I have been working in this field for a while, and I have a great passion for it," he added.
"I gained a lot of experience through my work with clubs in Switzerland and Germany, and with the Austrian national team. I love this job and have great enthusiasm for it.
"My biggest challenge is working in a foreign country with a culture that differs from Europe.
"However, I will work on understanding these differences to achieve success."
