The Betway Premiership took centre stage this past weekend, with log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns crushing their closest rivals Orlando Pirates 4-1 at Loftus Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Chloorkop-based side has now opened their lead to nine points, although coach Jose Riveiro's charges have a game in hand.

AmaZulu FC continued with their good form when they beat Marumo Gallants 2-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday night. Goals from Rowan Human and Wayde Jooste proved enough for co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi's side. Usuthu are now sitting sixth on the log with 23 points from 17 games.

Kaizer Chiefs continued from where they left off against Stellenbosch in their first-round league fixture when they beat them 1-0 in the second round at Athlone Stadium on Friday night. The two teams finished the first-round clash with Wandile Duba scoring a brace for Amakhosi at FNB Stadium last month. This was after Khomotjo Lekoloane opened the scoring only for Amakhosi to find their way back into the game. This time around, it was a solitary headed goal by new-signing Makabi Lilepo to win all three points for coach Nasreddine Nabi's Naturena-based side.

Magesi FC finally saw themselves move out of the automatic relegation spot when they beat Cape Towns City 2-0 at Seshego Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Two goals from Mncedi Vandala and Lehlohonolo Mtshali proved enough for coach Owen Da Gama's side to brush off coach Muhsin Ertugral's The Citizens.

Richards Bay FC recorded back-to-back wins when they beat Polokwane City 2-0 at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium and this followed another impressive and important 2-1 win against Marumo Gallants at the same venue, four days earlier.

TS Galaxy beat Chippa United 1-0 with a late goal from Damir Sovsic to push themselves to seventh spot in the log standings. Coach Adnan Beganovic will be hoping that his side will only be on an upward trajectory as they look to cement their spot in the Top Eight.
