"For now what I can tell you is that it's a Chinese team. We can't talk much until we agree terms with both the player and the club but the interest is there. They are looking at an experienced striker and his name came up. So, for now it's just the interest from the Chinese club," the Siya source stated.
A second insider noted that Mothiba's preference is to play in South Africa to remain close to home, as he has been overseas for an extended period in the past.

"He has been fighting to stay in South Africa because it's believed that he has missed home and he wants to be close to home for now. But it will all also depend on the offer as well. If the offer in China is good he may consider that," the second insider stated.
The 29-year-old last played active football for French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg during the 2023/24 season, featuring in many games before an injury disrupted his career.
Recently, Sundowns reportedly offered him a six-month contract until the end of the season, but he is yet to be registered to play for them, as reported by Soccer Laduma.
