Revealed: The Belgian Club Turning Up The Heat For Rayners

Revealed: The Belgian Club Turning Up The Heat For Rayners

There is growing interest from a European club in Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners, and the Siya crew has found out which Belgian team it is.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Scottish giants Rangers FC were among the clubs that had shown interest, and insiders have now indicated that the Belgian club now believed to be keen on acquiring his services, is SK Beveren.

Siya sources remind readers that this Belgian club, is also interested in their former player Lucas Ribeiro Costa of Sundowns. Beveren are understood to be dispatching scouts to South Africa to identify potential signings, with Rayners emerging as their primary target.

"The team that has inquired about Iqraam from Belgium is the same team that Ribeiro Costa used to play for and they are also interested in Lucas. But because they feel like it will be hard to get Costa that's why they have turned to Rayners now. Their scouts are based all over the world and they monitor players they are interested in and now they have inquired about Rayners," the Siya source stated.

A second insider told Soccer Laduma that the Brazilians may have a R55 million price tag for Rayners, applicable to any club showing interest.

"That R55m was not only meant for Rangers. It's for any team interested in him. So if the Belgian club is interested in Rayners then they have to meet that offer or even better it. But you know, the Sporting Director is from that side (from Denmark which is near Belgium) so maybe they are talking to him. But the interest and the inquiry has been there," the second source stated.

Currently, Rayners leads the scoring charts in the Betway Premiership. He has also played a crucial role for Bafana Bafana, contributing goals that helped secure qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place at the end of this year in Morocco.

With increasing interest from European clubs, Rayners' potential move to Europe highlights his impressive form and value on the international stage. If the transfer proceeds, it could provide Rayners a platform to enhance his career globally, while offering Sundowns a significant return on their valuation.

Rayners should be in action when Sundowns take on Raja Casablanca in an important group stage CAF Champions League fixture away in Morocco on Saturday. The Brazilians will need at least a point to stay ahead of Maniema Union on the table.
