With the season approaching its final days, it appears the pressure is not only mounting on Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela, but also on the faithful supporters of the Naturena team.
Amakhosi fan khosibybirth548 has once again taken it upon himself to highlight what he thinks could be the reason behind the Glamour Boys' poor performances this season.
"When Sir Baxter was at Chiefs, he perfected the art of attacking, yet, still, he emphasised on getting players being the ball when not in possession. He had Masango, Maluleka, Lebese, Letsholonyane and Nkhatha being able to enter the opponents' final third with the two backs in support. It was normal to have five players in the box, attacking.
"Right now, we are lucky to have two or three. Maluleka stays with Katsande because Steve has his mind fixed on defending, and that is our biggest downfall. I beg you to review our matches. The only time we have numbers in the box is when we become desperate or during set-plays. Now what needs to happen is that when Castro gains possession, we need to see midfielders storming into the final third, and at least one fullback joining with those late runs.
"Katsande and centre backs moving to plug the gaps in case of a counter because at this stage you have only one striker of the opponents remaining. At least five or six players in attack would be able to pin back opponents. Yet, with Steve, we attack with three players at the most. It is not an accident that our midfielders can no longer score. Whereas that shouldn't be the case, especially when we have a striker who is good with the ball at his feet, Castro."
What would you say has been Chiefs' biggest downfall this season?
