Following their impressive win over Kaizer Chiefs last weekend, Orlando Pirates fans are now more convinced than ever that the Ghosts have what it takes to actually take the league title back to Mayfair.
Supporters Club caught up with Bucs fan Mthandazo 'Ghost' Nkomo, who could not contain his excitement after his side hammered the Glamour Boys 3-1, courtesy of goals from Thembinkosi Lorch and Luvuyo Memela.
SC: Ghost! Congratulations on your win against your neighbours. What are your thoughts on the game, and what does the victory mean to you as a Bucs supporter?
Ghost: Look! All the Buccaneers are happy! Not only did we give them their first defeat of the season, we ended their impressive defence records, with Maritzburg United being the team that has conceded less goals to date in the league this season. What a perfect combination coach Micho and Rhulani make. There were about six coaches who were in charge at Mayfair before the arrival of Micho and none of them were able to match Pirates' standard of play. Micho came and restored our pride and dignity. I never doubted Memela's capabilities, it is just that the previous coaches were not utilising his talent correctly. I am not surprised that Memela is scoring goals, the boy has it in him. There was a time in the season were I thought we were going to finish the season poorly, but thanks to Micho and Rhulani, all that has changed now. Pirates must aim for the league now. After beating Chiefs and Sundowns so convincingly, anything is possible. We need to dethrone Sundowns and they must be the ones that will play catch-up to us now.
Do you think Bucs can dethrone Masandawana?
