Former Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana has questioned Kaizer Chiefs over their treatment of his former teammate Khama Billiat.
According to a statement shared by Chiefs, Billiat has gone AWOL, after the club offered him a new contract upon the expiry of his deal at the end of June.
Kekana has leaped into the defence of Billiat, saying that Chiefs' offer didn't provide the attacker with necessary security. The Soweto giant's contract offer reportedly included a significant pay-cut.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Kekana: Little Room For Billiat To Express Himself At Chiefs" story:
"Bra Hlompho... do you mean Billy's five-year tenure at Chiefs he had little room to express himself??" asks NickNaks.
"Billiat is finished i don't understand why so much drama about him," says sbusisogumede16.
"Kekana is just wrong. I really do not understand why players want to treat professional clubs as charity organisations. They demand a lot of money claiming that their soccer career is short. They live reckless lives with the money, resulting in them being injured most of the time.
"When their contracts expire, they need longer contracts after being paid huge salaries without playing! Chiefs has not benefited at all from the huge salary that was paid to Billiat.
"Of course, they are also to blame. You can't have two or three players commanding salaries equal to the rest of the team combined," says msanisto.
"Where does Kekana get these six months that he's talking about? He admits that Billiat has not played much the past few seasons, but he thinks Chiefs should give him a longer contract for him to chow the money from the hospital bed.
"Kekana thinks Chiefs is a charity organisation like Buntu Botho," says siyaz.
"No Hlompho, lets talk about how you were pushed out a sundowns. chiefs should give Khama a long term contract, based on what?" asks user851572.
