Shaun Bartlett's Cape Town Spurs edged closer to DStv Premiership promotion after a nail-biting 1-0 win over Casric Stars.

The Urban Warriors were almost derailed by a Ashley Cupido red card after the hour-mark, but a Morne Nel strike six minutes later was enough to see them through to an all-important win.

Unbeaten in the play-offs so far, the Mother City-based side just need a single point in their final match against Maritzburg United to secure a spot in South Africa's top flight.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "10-Man Spurs Extend Winning Run, Edge Closer To Promotion" story:

"Team of Choice, kuphelile ngayo (It's over for them)," says NDLOVU.90.

"It's over for Maritzburg," says @limitless.

"Straight win for CT Spurs," says macya68.

"If Spurs win and head to the DStv Premiership, this playoff thing needs to be scraped and it's just a waist of time. DStv Premiership number 15 and 16 must go down, number 1 and 2 from the Motsepe foundation must automatically go up," says bhekilekhuleni6.

"It should but it needs a delegation from CAF to convince FIFA to scrap this, as it is also used worldwide. SAFA and PSL are just following the FIFA rules," responds Soccer Fanatic to the comment above.

Manchester United first team coach and former Pirates striker Benni McCarthy says the Buccaneers' cup double success "is not good enough" and they should challenging Mamelodi Sundowns for the league title.

In an interview with Marawa Sports World, McCarthy admits the Sea Robbers have had a positive season but feels that the league should be the yardstick for their success.

McCarthy thinks Pirates should be pushing Downs right down to the wire bemoans the DStv Premiership becoming a one-horse race.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Benni's Tough Love To Pirates: 'That's Not Good Enough'" story:

"Pirates won back-to-back trebles without buying a R51 million player from overseas. Micho almost win the league in the 2017/18 season, this campaign we were troubled by injuries to key players; Ndah, Sibisi, Maela, Ofori, Pule, Lorch, Monare etc. that disrupted our momentum.

"But yeah, Benni won't see any good in Pirates, he is still angry for not being given the head coach job. As for Man U, they will forever continue to struggle while Man City march on to the podium," says oupaphiri.27.

"CAF is the big fish. Pirates should not obsess about the league, It will come. Only one can win, anyway, the past season they did extremely well, played well in those cups and wanted to win them too. If only Benni said they're on the right track, not this 'not good enough' nonsense," says Onside.

"Shouldn't Man United be challenging Man City? Just like Pitso, Benni seems like he's confused. Just put your focus on your Man United. When did they last lift the league championship? Just asking..." says mtswenijohannes5.

"I will say that I'm happy that Floyd is gone so that we can see who is signing players at Pirates. Sundowns is signing good players to make them quality players, because they have a plan of how they want to use them, that is the difference.

"...Pirates need at least 4-5 players who can score. Pirates need to know how to win games and not only look to play nice football," says Bucs365.

"Personally I don't see Pirates challenging Downs, even this coming season. A huge financial investment in playing personnel is needed for such a project to be attempted. We have a goalkeeper who concedes in every match, and a team that doesn't know how to play when leading by a single goal.

"Bucs always play better when coming from behind and after the opposition has scored an equaliser. Even worse, we have Monare with his terrible shooting and Dlamini with his below average contributions. Whilst players like Makaringe and Pule play like they are no longer interested in playing for us," says xemandla.

"The legend has spoken lets target the big fish Buccaneers and bring this Downs dominance to an end," benjmwaru3796.

"True Benni, but blowing hot and cold is the problem that the team has had for years now. That's something that needs to be fixed," says jamesonngcoboj63.
