Chippa United have a chance to revive their season when they host third-tier side Mpheni Home Defenders in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 on Saturday afternoon.
Nedbank Cup
Teams: Chippa United v Mpheni Home Defenders
Date: 11 March 2023
Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
Time: 15h30
Returning interim coach Kurt Lentjies has not been able to turn the tide since he replaced Morgan Mammila, as Chippa lost for the third consecutive league game after a 2-0 defeat to AmaZulu last weekend.
However, the Chilli Boys booked their spot in the last 16 after beating Motsepe Foundation Championship side Polokwane City on penalties following a 1-1 draw in extra-time.
Mpheni, meanwhile, who are campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League Limpopo region, got to this stage after thrashing fellow third-tier outfit Clarewood JPM.
The Bulls are currently top of the standings in the Limpopo Stream A, just three points clear of second-placed Giyani Happy Boys with a game in hand.
However, Mpheni are in great form, as they have won 11 of their 12 league games so far after drubbing Musina United 3-0 towards the end of February.
Here's how they line up:
Chippa United: Nwabali, Mdunyelwa, Banda, Pietersen, Poggenpoel, Pfumbidzai, September, Kammies, Maphangule, Lebitso, Ighodaro
Subs: Kazapua, Mini, Luthuli, Ntsabo, Mathiane, Maarman, Appollis, Chauke, Abrahams
