Swallows FC and Golden Arrows will be fighting to get further away from the relegation zone when they clash in the DStv Premiership on Friday evening.

DStv Premiership

Teams: Swallows FC v Golden Arrows

Date: 17 March 2023

Venue: Dobsonville Stadium

Swallows will return to action after two weeks of not playing since their 4-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Original Soweto derby.

The defeat to Pirates proved to be the last match for former coach Ernst Middendorp, who surprised many by leaving the club to join German third-tier side SV Meppen days after the loss.

The Birds are languishing third-from-bottom on the table, three points clear of 15th-placed Maritzburg United.

Arrows, on the other hand, are still smarting from the 3-1 thrashing by Royal AM in extra-time in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 last weekend.

Abafana Bes'thende have been on a slippery slope in the league as a 2-1 defeat to SuperSport United the last time out pushed them down to 12th on the log, just a point above Swallows and only four points clear of the drop zone.

Arrows will be chasing a league double over the Birds after registering an emphatic 4-0 victory in the first round clash back in September last year.

Here's how they line up:
