Bafana Bafana will be chasing their first win in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they host Liberia on Friday evening at Orlando Stadium.
Africa Cup of Nations
Teams: South Africa v Liberia
Date: 24 March 2023
Venue: Orlando Stadium
Time: 18h00
Hugo Broos' charges started their Group K campaign on a back foot after a 2-1 loss to Morocco in June last year.
The qualifiers, which were supposed to resume in September, were postponed to allow African teams to prepare for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The group has only three teams after Zimbabwe were disqualified and Broos' side will go head to head with Liberia in back-to-back matches, with Morocco already topping the section by six points.
Liberia are in the same situation as Bafana, as they lost their opening game 2-0 against the Atlas Lions also back in June last year.
Bafana will qualify for the Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast next year in January if they beat Liberia home and away and vise versa for the Lone Stars.
Here's how they line up:
South Africa: Williams, Morena, Xulu, Mvala, Modiba, Mokoena, Le Roux, Zwane, Hlongwane, Tau, Foster
Subs: Mobbie, Maela, Timm, Saleng, Goss, Sithole, Mothwa, Lepasa, Kekana, Mailula, Sibisi, Mayambela
