Steve Komphela Says Kaizer Chiefs Don't Park The Bus

Steve Komphela has hit out at claims that Kaizer Chiefs have been parking the bus this season, insisting that that is simply not the case.   Read: Does Shabba Deserve A New Chiefs Contract?   The Amakhosi have the most effective defence in the Absa Premiership this season having conceded just 12 goals in their 22 games so far, although they are also one of the lowest scoring teams in the division.    Going into this weekend's Soweto Derby, a game that has been plagued with draws of late, Komphela has decided to counter the accusations that his side doesn't set out to attack the opposition.   Speaking in a press conference this week, he said, "Could we think back to a match where you could say that Chiefs parked the bus? And then‚ as soon as we identified that match‚ we break it down‚ and then facts would show you that it never happened – at no stage.   "I don't remember Chiefs parking the bus. However, there were statements made that we parked the bus. Sometimes what we hear might not necessarily be what is… Sometimes when statements are made we have to listen.    Click here to check out the PSL fixtures   "As soon as it gets into the ear‚ send it to the brain. And then start rationalising with oneself. Because sometimes you just listen and take it and say it's the gospel truth. When in fact it is misleading. It is not true."    The 50-year-old says that he has let the claims be made for too long now and that he feels the time has come to defend his strategy.   He concluded by saying, "Chiefs have never parked the bus. For the first time in my life, I defend a position at Chiefs. We take it on the chin every time. That's what professionals are, but this time I'm saying there's nothing like that.   "Whoever said that must go and check what the meaning of parking the bus is in relation to Kaizer Chiefs."   Chiefs and Pirates lock horns tomorrow at 15h30.
