Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Joseph Makhanya has lauded the performance of Bandile Shandu ahead of the Soweto Derby this weekend.
The former Maritzburg United defender received mixed reaction when he joined Orlando Pirates at the beginning of the season in a surprise move.
Dukuduku says it is very exciting to see a player like Shandu improve, which shows the understanding of his teammates and adapting to life at Pirates.
"It is really exciting to see Bandile Shandu scoring and performing the way he has been performing. It clearly shows that he is growing in terms of his game, he is adapting and understands what is needed from him," Makhanya told the Siya crew.
"(He has adapted to) the pattern they are playing and has become the ace, as it seems like they giving him freedom to pop in those surprise moves and goals, which shows that they understand him now."

With Pirates facing Chiefs this weekend, Makhanya says it is another good opportunity to make a big statement.
"He is consistent and scored three goals in two games for a defender and someone that has been doubted/ So it is nice to see him improving and proving his doubters wrong ahead of such big game."
