Orlando Pirates' injury nightmare ahead of Kaizer Chiefs clash

Orlando Pirates' injury nightmare ahead of Kaizer Chiefs clash

Orlando Pirates coach Mandla Ncikazi admits that his side's worryingly thin defence is an area of concern ahead of the highly anticipated Soweto Derby this weekend.

With inspirational captain Happy Jele a doubt after hobbling off with what appeared to be a serious injury last week, the Buccaneers' worst nightmare came to light as impressive centre back Olisah Ndah was another injury casualty in their 2-1 win over Sekhukhune, leaving their central defence looking stretched.

Ncikazi has voiced his concern over the Nigerian's fitness ahead of the highly-anticipated match-up.

"We will wait for the medical report, how serious it is – but [I am] concerned a bit," he told journalists.

"It is the story of our lives in almost every match we lose a player, and the sad part is that it is not injuries from training. It is just injuries that are out of our control."

"I am just hoping that he is okay for the next match, because he plays an integral part in our team," he added.

Pirates do still have Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Kwanda Mngonynama available for the clash, but will be hoping the 25-year-old can shake off the injury concerns ahead of Saturday's encounter.

Kick off is scheduled for 15:30pm.
