Bernard Parker's early strike was enough to hand Steve Komphela's charges a 1-0 win at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

"We know the culture of these derby games, it's not easy games but it was about us to check how far we are in terms of our preparation. I think we headed in the right direction, " Katsande told SuperSport after the game.

"The coach we had this time around was quite confident. I've been listening to his interviews. I watched Sport at 10, he was so calm and he understands the game."

Ryan Moon was also delighted to get on the field of playe for the Soweto giants.

"I want to thank the fans for voting me in the team as a young player. We can only learn from these big players such as Parker and Shabba (Tshabalala), so it's great for us," he added.
