Gavin Hunt Hails 'Fantastic' Kaizer Chiefs Youngster

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt showered some special praise on young midfielder Njabulo Blom after the victory over Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.

The AmaKhosi got back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership with a 1-0 win over their cross-town rivals thanks to Samir Nurkovic's stunning effort in the second half.

Hunt was pleased with his side's display on the day, and felt Blom was his Man of the Match on the day.

"Njabulo Blom was Man of the Match, fantastic you know. He's got energy, he's got legs, it's what we need, he's got desire, we just gotta get him better, but he'll get better. As I said, 'Mshini' [Nkosingiphile Ngcobo], Happy [Mashiane] I mean the ball he played through for Nurkovic, what a ball, fantastic," he told SuperSport after the game.

"He'll get better, you need time with him, you also need players around them that can make them better. As long as they got the work ethic, Njabulo has got that, Darrel, these youngsters got it. I just got to keep preservering, I believe in them, hopefully we can get them better and better, you know that's all I can do."

Hunt also went on to touch on the impact the lack of fans has on a big club such as Chiefs.

"Obviously the club of this size, Pirates and Chiefs need people [fans], they've thrived on that all the years, I've always played against it and felt they've always had the 12th, 13th man.

"And that's certainly maybe what happened last season at the end of the season, they never had that, I felt sorry for them because it could've certainly got them over the line you know.

"So you need that, we haven't had it, it's been a couple of results this season that you know I thought we could've, just a little bit of edge we could have done better but it is what it is. It's the same all over the world, you look at the top sides they are struggling as well.

"But all in all I'm happy for the players, that's the most important thing and hopefully it gives us a bit of a kick," he added.
