Result: Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 Orlando Pirates
Date: 06 November 2021
Venue: FNB Stadium
Chiefs made only one enforced change, as Sibusiso Mabiliso took the place of the injured Sifiso Hlanti while Pirates made three alterations, as Thabang Monare and Ntsako Makhubela were recalled alongside a first start for Kwame Peprah.
Amakhosi had a chance to go ahead in the 14th minute with a free-kick on the edge of the box after Khama Billiat was brought down going clear on goal from a counter-attack but Billiat curled his effort just over the bar.
The Buccaneers were taking the game to Chiefs, looking to unsettle their defence with the speed and mobility of Peprah and they were finding openings but they did not have the finishing touches.
The sides were cancelling each other out in midfield in the closing phase of the first stanza but Fortune Makaringe had a big chance to break the deadlock for Pirates on the stroke of half-time with a free header inside the box from Makhubela's cross that missed narrowly wide.

Stuart Baxter's charges pounced on transition four minutes in as Thulani Hlatshwayo played a costly back pass that sent Billiat clear on goal and the Zimbabwean setup Dolly, who curled a low strike into the bottom corner.
Chiefs continued to absorb the pressure, with Pirates desperate for the equaliser and having the attacking momentum but they could not carve out clear openings.
The Buccaneers made a triple attacking change in the last 20 minutes, as Terrence Dzvukamanja replaced Abel Mabaso, Bandile Shandu came on for Deon Hotto and Tshegofatso Mabasa replaced Peprah.
Billiat had a big chance to double the lead for Chiefs in the last nine minutes after beating the offside trap to go clear on goal but his attempted chip was parried away from goal by shot-stopper Siyabonga Mpontshane and Hlatshwayo made the final clearance.
Pirates finally snatched the equaliser in the last three minutes after shot-stopper Daniel Akpeyi fumbled a header by Dzvukamanja and Linda Mntambo fired the rebound into the top corner from close range.
There was drama in stoppage time after Chiefs were awarded a penalty after Olisa Ndah brought down Billiat inside the box with a trailing hand from an aerial challenge and Dolly stepped up to smash his spot-kick on the wrong side of Mpontshane to take Amakhosi up to fifth on the log.
