Sabelo Radebe has relived a special moment and made a promise to Kaizer Chiefs supporters following his cameo last weekend.
The Amakhosi young midfielder came off the bench away to Baroka FC and set up the winning goal scored by Khama Billiat late in stoppage time to keep the club's hopes of closing the gap on DStv Premiership log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns alive.
"The chance finally came, so I had to show up. I have been waiting for the chance to play and this will help me keep my attitude positive. I have a great attitude – that's why I made an impact. I just keep on motivating myself to keep going," Radebe said on the Chiefs website.
"I knew I had control of the ball I and got there before the defender. I was close to the goals and I saw something coming. The guys made good movement, which opened up the chance for us."
Chiefs now face bitter rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday in what would be his first ever Soweto Derby appearance if coach Stuart Baxter gives him a run.
The Glamour Boys are keen to at least get the CAF Champions League spot with Downs now clear league favourites – but a win over Pirates is for bragging rights.
"I am proud of myself and the team and thankful to the coach for this opportunity. We need to keep on winning. We need to pull up our socks and keep on aiming for more points," said 22-year-old Radebe, one of the club's youth products.
