Coach Gavin Hunt has said that he prefers to be ahead rather than trying to keep up with their rivals having now slipped outside the Top 8 bracket and needing to play three games for a true reflection of their log standing.
The encounter away to Maritzburg this week is one of their catch-up fixtures.

"We all know that the PSL, compared to the Champions League, is a totally different game of football. It's much quicker and much harder," said Hunt, who was relieved to see Chiefs end an unwanted eight game winless streak when they beat Petro de Luanda 2-0 in their CAF Champions League group stages clash at the weekend.
"We have a big game on Wednesday and we have missed a lot of games now. We are three behind now and we need to catch-up. People say we must do well on this front, but I don't like to be behind, I'd rather we were three games ahead. It's not easy at this time," Hunt said.
Amakhosi then travel to Angola for the away leg against Petro, so they are not likely to catch-up very soon, which obviously frustrates Hunt.
With Chiefs being out of the Nedbank Cup, their next domestic fixture is the Soweto Derby against title challengers Orlando Pirates on March 21.
