On Friday, a top-of-the-table clash graces our screens as Cape Town City host log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns in an ABSA Premiership match. Masandawana are four points ahead of their opponents and will be looking to extend their lead, however, the Citizens will not let Pitso Mosimane's charges walk all over them in their own background. This promises to be a tough encounter between these two sides.
On Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs travel across town as they face off against Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium. Amakhosi seem like they have a new lease on life after securing the signatures of two stars in Leo Castro and Kabelo Mahlasela. On the other hand, the Students are looking to move up the log table after a poor start to the season.
Match of the Week
Cape Town City v Mamelodi Sundowns (Absa Premiership)
Match 1 Soccer 6 Pool 02 February S6 V2 P1
League Rankings: City 2nd Sundowns 1st
Useful facts: It's a top-of-the-table clash when in-form City take on log leaders, Sundowns. The Citizens had a good start to the season and had a dip in form halfway through the first round, but were able to quickly regain consistency. The visitors will look to put an end to the City hoodoo, which has seen them fall to the Capetonians in three matches, having last defeated them in 2016. However, Masandawana managed to maintain their spit at the top of the league standings since before the Christmas break. Despite dropping points last weekend after playing to a goalless draw against Kaizer Chiefs, the Tshwane giants will look to extend their stay at the summit. It ended 1-0 to the home side in their previous league meeting.

Match 6 Soccer 6 Pool 4 February S6 V3 P1
League Rankings: Wits 12th Chiefs 4th
Useful facts: The defending champions were able to move away slightly from the relegation zone when they came from behind to hammer SuperSport United 4-1 last weekend. Having collected only 21 points so far, the Clever Boys will hope to build on the previous league results when they face Steve Komphela's charges. However, the Glamour Boys had a good run in the previous rounds of the 2017/18 PSL campaign, despite their recent draw against Mamelodi Sundowns. Spoils were shared between Amakhosi and the Clever Boys - a 1-1 draw in their last league encounter.
