On Friday, January 19, Bidvest Wits will host Bloemfontein Celtic in an ABSA Premiership league encounter. The Clever Boys drew their previous match against Chippa United, while their opponents suffered a 4-0 loss to Maritzburg United. Wits will be hoping to take advantage of playing on their home turf to secure the three points on offer.

English Premier League log leaders, Manchester City will be looking to get back to winning ways after their defeat against Liverpool over the past weekend. Their opponents, Newcastle, drew their previous encounter against Swansea City. However, it would be a tough task for the Magpies to outdo a City side that seeks three points at home.

Real Betis will go head-to-head against LaLiga leaders, Barcelona. The Catalans are nine points ahead on the log standings, while Betis are in the seventh position. It would be interesting to see if the home side would be able to break down the high-flying Barca side.

Gavin Hunt's men were held to a 1-1 draw by Chippa United in their previous league encounter. The Students edged Siwelele 1-0 in the last outing between the two, in the first round of the season.

Manchester City v Newcastle (English Premier League)

Match 5 Soccer 6 Pool 20 January S6 V1 P1

League rankings: Man City 1st Newcastle 15th

Useful facts: Liverpool proved that runaway log leaders, Man City, are beatable after stunning them 4-3 at Anfield last Sunday, ending their 22-game unbeaten league run. The Citizens are back at Etihad with hopes to return to winning ways and continue to prolong their stay at the top of the table. Newcastle return to the home of the Blues just under a month after losing 1-0 to them in the first round of the season. The Magpies will also look to end their three-match winless run in the league. With only six wins so far in the campaign, Rafael Benitez's side is in for a tough one against the Blues.

Real Betis v FC Barcelona (Spanish LaLiga)

Match 6 Soccer 6 21 January S6 V3 P1

League Rankings: Betis 13th Barcelona 1st

Useful facts: Nineteen games unbeaten in the league, Barca are the only team in Europe's top five that remains undefeated. With Lionel Messi putting on a sterling performance against Real Sociedad last Sunday, the Catalonian giants will not hold back when they visit struggling Betis this Sunday.
