Mandla Ncikazi Touted For Orlando Pirates Success

Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has been touted to succeed at the Soweto giants.

Along with former Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids, Ncikazi has been in charge at Pirates since the departure of German mentor Josef Zinnbauer in August.

Ncikazi and Davids have led the Buccaneers past the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup and are scheduled to face Liberian champions LPRC Oilers as they attempt to qualify for the group stages of the continental competition.

With the team scheduled to face high-flying Royal AM in their next DStv Premiership match on Thursday, Golden Arrows captain Matome Mathiane who played under Ncikazi as Abafana Bes'thende finished in a remarkable fourth place on the log last season, believes that Bucs are in the right hands under the highly-rated mentor.

"Coach Mandla is a good coach, and having worked with him, I am the first one to say that he deserves to coach one of the big three clubs in the league. I think the supporters of Orlando Pirates and the management of the club should just give him time and chance to show them the experience that he has in the game and what he has learnt in coaching throughout his career so far," said Mathiane, speaking to the Siya crew.

"I think he can manage Pirates if they can give him power and everything, he can handle the team. I believe that with the way Pirates players play, that's how he likes his teams to play," the defender added.
