Four Kaizer Chiefs Stars Identified As Dangermen In Resurgence

Four Kaizer Chiefs Stars Identified As Dangermen In Resurgence

Four Kaizer Chiefs stars have been identified as dangermen in the team's resurgence after the club moved to second on the DStv Premiership log and closing the gap with Mamelodi Sundowns in the title race.

Chiefs are oozing with confidence after their impressive 3-1 win over Swallows FC last weekend and are getting ready to host inconsistent Cape Town City on Saturday, aiming for similar results.

City head coach Eric Tinkler is wary of in-form Chiefs stars in Khama Billiat, Keagan Dolly and Bernard Parker who have been creating and scoring goals, while the mentor also says that a player like Lebogang Manyama will need to be also kept in check.

"We started to prepare for the game against Kaizer Chiefs… and the in-form Kaizer Chiefs. They have had some positive results of late and a game against them as a coach I don't really need to motivate my players. My players should be already motivated knowing that they are playing against such a high-profile club as Kaizer Chiefs," said Tinkler, speaking through City's media department.

"We come off the disappointment of the draw against TS Galaxy. Normally people would be happy with a draw away from home, but we are not. There was a disappointment from me and the disappointment obviously from the team as well not to have collected maximum points against TS Galaxy," the coach added.

Tinkler says his team will need to be more organised in defence against Amakhosi like they were when they played against Mamelodi Sundowns.

"We've managed to keep a clean sheet against the best team in the league in Mamelodi Sundowns and consistency becomes key, especially now when we go into a game against Kaizer Chiefs where upfront they have a lot of firepower in Billiat, Dolly, Bernard Parker and Manyama and a lot of players that can score goals. Defensively, we need to be very well structured and organised. But we need to go there and again play with no fear and play with a lot of belief in ourselves. We are a team that likes to play attractive football, so we would like to continue doing that. But sometimes we have to play ugly football in order to collect maximum points and I think that's going to be a lesson this week for the players to understand the importance of us improving defensively and not leaking the amount of goals that we have been leaking and staying in consistency of what we do," concluded the coach.
