Monday is transfer deadline day in the PSL, and it's understood Benni McCarthy is keen to squeeze in one more new arrival – from Orlando Pirates!
But Siya sources have indicated that SuperSport United are also still interested in defender Bongani Sam, too, and want him on a loan deal with an option to buy outright.
McCarthy this week added Zukile Kewuti from Cape Town City to his AmaZulu side on a short term agreement that will be reviewed at the end of the season.
The former Bafana Bafana striker revealed that he had put a few players on the transfer list following his appointment at Usuthu in December, but so far the club has not yet confirmed any notable departures.
But City did confirm Kewuti had joined Usuthu on loan.
Sam is a player who'd been on the fringes at Pirates this season, until January 20 when he started his first domestic game of the season under coach Josef Zinnbauer.
He started three consecutive matches thereafter, but an injury has kept him out of the Buccaneers' previous two DStv Premierships encounters.
Siya sources have indicated that his potential move is one of those transfers that could go through in the final hours during Monday's deadline.
It's SuperSport, however, who could have the upper hand in the sense that they have room for more reinforcements, while AmaZulu had already signed several players at the start of the season before McCarthy was appointed.
Meanwhile, seventh placed Usuthu have a massive away game on Sunday against high-flying Swallows, who are in third place.
McCarthy will be hoping for a fourth straight league win that could turn AmaZulu into dark horses in the title race…
