Mamelodi Sundowns had a league bye this weekend, but that didn't stop them from winning yet another DStv Premiership League title. Sundowns were playing in the CAF Champions League, but were relying on Chippa United to prevent SuperSport United from beating them. The Chilli Boys are 'owed one' by Sundowns, as they held Supersport to a draw. This is Sundowns' 13th title overall and it is very evident that they are the dominant force in South Africa. Many fans have questioned the legitimacy of Sundown's business antics and cries for the PSL to introduce a form of financial fair play ruling system are still being unheard. Sundowns' dominance poses the burning question; Is the PSL becoming a boring league?
Stellenbosch FC was reduced to 10 men against Kaizer Chiefs in the 16th minute when goalie Sage Shane Stephens handled the ball outside the box. Not too long after this red card, Kaizer Chiefs were awarded a penalty which Keegan Dolly calmly put away. The Glamour boys emerged victorious but to the utter disgust of Stellies coach Steve Barker. Barker went on to criticise the officiating after this match as he questioned Chiefs' red card and penalty record.
