If you've been scrolling through socials during lockdown and cursing your friends as they post video after video of their time with FIFA 20 while you're still grinding an older version, then you might be happy to know that there is a more cost effective way to upgrade.
EA Access is a service that we in South Africa had to initially wait for, and those who play on PlayStation then had to wait even longer to try the subscription-based service.
Although Electronic Arts (EA) initially pitched the product to Microsoft and Sony, it was the Xbox that jumped on board initially in August 2014. The platform then finally made its way to PS4 in July 2019.
The selection of games on PS4 was more limited, but, if your main aim is just to play FIFA, then you'll be happy to know that the latest version of the game has been added to the EA Access Vault, meaning that it is free to play if you have a subscription!
The subscription cost on PS4 is R48.50 per month, or you can opt for a 12 month subscription at just R299, which works out to R24.92 per month if you have to work out the math.
Just remember, this is a digital service so you will need to download the game to your console or PC, meaning that you should have a decent internet line as the download size for the game is a pretty standard 44GB.
That being said, if you are connected, have a card registered on the PS Store, and looking for a cost effective solution, then EA Access might be worth checking out. You won't need a PS Plus subscription for the service, though if you plan to play online against friends, then you will need to have that service active.
As an added bonus, there are a number of other games that you will be able to access for free with your subscription - which could greatly help you deal with any lockdown boredom.
