If you're spending the weekend strolling through the island of Tsushima and living out your ultimate samurai fantasy, then you are one of millions of people who rushed out to get Ghost of Tsushima.
This brand new IP from developer Sucker Punch Productions has received critical acclaim and PlayStation has now confirmed that this console exclusive has set a new bar.
Announcing the news on PlayStation's official Twitter account, they revealed that the samurai epic is now the fastest-selling first-party original IP debut ever, having sold over 2.4 million opies globally in the first 3 days of release.
"Ghost of Tsushima is now PS4's fastest selling first-party original IP debut with more than 2.4 million units sold through globally in its first 3 days of sales. Congratulations @SuckerPunchProd, and thank you to fans around the world for taking part in Jin's journey," read the Tweet.
This means that it topped the success of previous exclusive, and new IP, Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerilla Games which managed 2.6 million sales over a two-week period.
The developers responded to the accolade with their own tweet, saying, "We are so appreciative of everyone who contributed to such an amazing launch for #GhostOfTsushima! Thank you to all of you who have played so far – it means the world to us!"
The game received an average overall score of 83 out of 100 on Metacritic, with 103 critics reviewing the game. The user score is even higher, with 9.3 out of 10 being the average overall User Score on the site, with 11 090 ratings.
