Electronic Arts (EA) have confirmed that they will be making changes to Madden NFL to align with Washington's decision to rebrand their team.
The team, which was previously nicknamed the Redskins, will be undergoing a full revamp and EA have reacted quickly to remove any badges and wording relating to the previous name.
In the statement, EA discussed their approach to the matter, saying, "We are pleased to see Washington's decision to change their team name and visual identity.
"We are quickly working to update Madden NFL 21 to feature a generic Washington team, while we await final word on the updated team name and logo design."
"The first changes will be available to our EA Access players and will include audio/commentary updates; motion graphics and presentation updates; stadium art, environments, crowd gear and signage updates; and uniform updates.
"Players may continue to see some outdated Washington references in other areas of the game at launch, but we are committed to removing all of those from the game in additional title updates coming shortly after launch."
It was also explained that the old branding will remain present when purchasing a physical copy of the game, as the data is already on the discs, but it will be patched out once players connect and update the game.
