Since Itumeleng Khune announced that he will partner with Top Bet, the Siya crew takes a look at whether this is the end of Kaizer Chiefs' hope that their legend could work for them in the marketing department.
Siya sources close to the player and club have indicated that Chiefs are believed to have given up on working with Khune either as an ambassador or in the marketing department.

Soccer Laduma had long reported how Amakhosi were willing to give the former captain a position in the Brand and Marketing department to work alongside Jessica Motaung, but Khune wanted to continue playing. The Bafana Bafana icon recently expressed how he cried for two weeks because his wish of wanting to continue playing soccer, may not be fulfilled at Chiefs anymore.
"Actually his partnership with Top Bet is like the final nail in the coffin. Problems started when he insisted that he still wanted to play while the club offered him a different job in the marketing and ambassadors role. And now that he is with Top Bet it's even more difficult. You know Chiefs are sponsored by SuperSportBet and the league is sponsored by Betway so the club feels it will be a difficult working relationship with him as either an ambassador or in the marketing department. This is the end between Chiefs and Khune," the Siya source explained.

A second Siya source stated that for three weeks the club had been trying to talk to Khune about the marketing post, but he was not interested. Soccer Laduma had reported about Chiefs' interest in using Khune in the marketing department early last season.
"The club was waiting to hear from him for almost three weeks since he left Naturena and they heard nothing. But they were informed by his representatives that he is still interested in playing and that he could not take up an administrative role at all. And now that he is with Top Bet it's signals the end between him and Chiefs," the second source told the Siya crew.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this report. Fans will be watching closely to see what the future holds for the former captain and how he navigates this new chapter in his career. It remains to be seen if Khune could still find his way as a player or even in the marketing department at a later stage at Chiefs.
