While changes have taken place in Mamelodi Sundowns' coaching department with Steve Komphela leaving for Moroka Swallows, the Brazilians are making changes in their reserve team too.
According to sources, Surprise Moriri, coach of the DStv Diski Challenge team at Downs, is likely to appear in a different role in the new season, with the club believed to have earmarked Sinethemba Badela as his replacement.
Badela has been head coach of All Stars FC and did well with the team last season, before the club was sold to Black Leopards at the end of the campaign. The young tactician led the team to fourth place in the Motsepe Championship Foundation standings and qualification for the Nedbank Cup Last 32, where they lost to Orlando Pirates.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, the rumour mill also had it that he could possibly be loaned out to University of Pretoria with the Chloorkop-based side seeing potential in Badela, but it seems like they will be keeping him within their ranks after all.
"There are changes that are being planned at Sundowns for their DStv Diski Challenge team as Surprise Moriri is likely to be replaced in his role as the coach of the side. Sinethemba Badela, who coached All Stars last season, is set to be the new coach of the DDC team," revealed a source.
"He is a good coach who is earmarked for bigger things at the club. He could be one of the candidates for a first-team role in future even if as an assistant to coach Rhulani (Mokwena) if further changes are made. Surprise will remain with the club, from what I understand, but in a different role," the source added.
