The Siya crew has been led to believe that SuperSport United will step up their chase for Cape Town Spurs goalkeeper Lincoln Vyver. With Ricardo Goss, the club's current number, one on a two-year loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, Matsatsantsa are believed to be keen on bringing in a replacement and Vyver is a player the club is understood to have identified.
Soccer Laduma has it on good authority that the club has had informal talks with the Urban Warriors about the possibility of signing the 22-year-old ahead of the new season, but there was no formal agreement in place, especially with Spurs chasing promotion.
With the Cape side having since secured promotion to the DStv Premiership, it is unlikely that the club will be willing to part ways with their number one, given how important he was in Shaun Bartlett's side's bid for motion.
Vyver managed four clean sheets in all of the matches against Maritzburg United and Casric Stars in the play-offs. This, however, is unlikely to stop SuperSport from trying to bring in the Bafana Bafana goalie, a product of the Ajax academy, to the club.
Well-placed sources have it that there was an informal agreement in place between the two clubs in the event that Spurs remained in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. However, with the club now officially back in the topflight after five years in the second tier, a move for Vyver at this point seems unlikely.
Would it be better for Vyver's career to move to SuperSport?
