Word reaching the Siya crew is that SuperSport United midfielder Jesse Donn has so far declined a possible move to another DStv Premiership rival. Soccer Laduma has previously reported that Donn, along with then teammate Jammie Webber, was expected to leave Matsatsantsa during the current transfer window in search of regular game-time elsewhere.
SuperSport had prioritised holding on to anchorman Siphesihle Ndlovu as well as Grant Margeman for that holding midfield role – and making way to guarantee this is a possibility would be Donn and Webber. Sekhukhune United have since confirmed the arrival of Webber on a two-year deal to work closely with coach Brandon Truter, but Donn's future remains in limbo following news that he is reluctant to move.
According to Siya sources in the know, Stellenbosch FC had expressed a genuine interest in adding Donn to their squad for the upcoming season. However, the Tshwane side has not been able to convince the player to agree to the transfer even though he's been overlooked by coach Gavin Hunt.
Donn featured in 13 games during the 2022/23 campaign, which pales in comparison to the 31 matches he got a year prior. It was a significant drop in regular minutes, hence the Stellies move would have been tempting as far as a fresh start goes.
As things stand, Siya sources have indicated Donn will try fight for his place and has joined SuperSport in Durban for pre-season ahead of the Premier Soccer League getting underway next month.
