Word reaching the Siya crew is that Golden Arrows winger Pule Mmodi will pen a three-year deal with Kaizer Chiefs. The player has been a target for the Soweto giants for a while and, in fact, could have joined before the start of the past season, but a move did not materialise at the time.
Mmodi has always been clear that he would like to take his football to the next level and Naturena has been a destination he has been eyeing, despite interest from Arrows' KwaZulu-Natal rivals AmaZulu FC, who have also shown a serious interest in the player by making an official offer for his services.
But it appears Amakhosi may have won the race to sign the former Uthongathi player, and it's believed the 30-year-old will get a three-year deal with the club. It's unclear at this stage however, if it's a straight three-year contract or if it will be a two-year deal, with an option to extend for another campaign.
Indications are that Mmodi was recently part of the Kappa photoshoot for the new season at Rosebank, Johannesburg, as Chiefs prepare to unveil the player along with Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Mduduzi Mdantsane – the three other players the side have signed ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Orlando Pirates are believed to have also shown an interest in Mmodi, but he prefers joining Chiefs. In 31 appearances for Arrows last season, the speedy star scored six goals and notched three assists. Galaxy moving for Zuma? (non) The Siya crew has been led to believe that TS Galaxy are set to officially make a move for former AmaZulu FC player Dumisani Zuma.
The Rockets have let Given Msimango and Melusi Buthelezi go to join Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates respectively and Bathusi Aubaas is another who looks set to make a move to one of the big Soweto clubs during the upcoming transfer window. This leaves the side needing to make some reinforcements and indications are that they are preparing to make Zuma one of their signings for the new campaign.
Soccer Laduma reported a few weeks ago that Galaxy could reignite their interest in the player. Last season, before Zuma joined Usuthu, Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed that he would be open to signing the player after he had left Amakhosi. Zuma, however, ended up in the colours of Usuthu, but his one season in KwaZulu-Natal did not quite go as planned and now, as a free agent, he is wanted by the Sead Ramovic-led outfit.
