Insiders close to Orlando Pirates have indicated that the club is believed to be set to exercise the one-year contract option they have on their midfielder Miguel Timm.
The sources have added that the Bucs technical team recommended retaining Timm for at least another season, prompting the club to want to activate this option.

The Siya source stated that Timm's current contract, which was renewed last season, was initially set to run until the end of this season. Now, with the option close to being exercised, he is expected to remain with Pirates until June 2026.
"For now the team is believed to have triggered that one year option because they are the ones who hold that power in that instant and they are happy to keep him for one more season. The technical team still believes that there are times and games where they will need him beyond this season and that's why they advised management to exercise the option on his contract which will now run until June 2026. The contract (previously) extended from the beginning of the season ends in June 2025," the insider observed.
A second insider pointed out the importance of retaining Timm, given the current defensive midfield line-up of Thalente Mbatha and Makhehlene Makhaula.

"They have more attacking midfielders and to have Timm in the squad is very important for them and that's why they have apparently taken up the option to keep him. They have many games to play from this season until next season as they are in the group stages of the CAF Champions League and also playing in all the local tournaments. They need him to cover for Makhaula and Mbatha," the second source told the Siya crew.
So far this season, the 32-year-old former Marumo Gallants midfielder has not featured in any league games but has participated in cup matches and Champions League fixtures. Last season, he featured in many more games, and he was also consistent in his first season with Pirates.
Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but no response was received by the time this report was published.

With Timm's potential contract extension, Pirates can ensure depth and experience in their midfield, highlighting the strategic role he plays in the team.
