It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Congolese striker Guy Mbenza was being offered to Orlando Pirates. While it remains unclear if the club would have been interested to listen to the 23-year-old player's representatives, indications are that the forward could end up in France after all.
Having confirmed signing Katlego Otladisa, Melusi Buthelezi, Patrick Maswanganyi and Siphelo Baloni a fortnight ago and after welcoming back some of the players that were on loan last season, the Soweto giants appear to be closer to finalising their squad for the 2023/24 season, with the team in Spain from July 9 to 21 for some competitive friendly matches, having been in camp in Rustenburg until last Saturday.
While sources have confirmed that Mbenza has been one of the players offered to Bucs, indications are that the player has attracted interest from French club US Saint-Malo.
"As much as the player has been open to the idea of making a move to the DStv Premiership, there is another opportunity for him to go to France. He is a good player, a top striker, and is playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Tai. There is a European-based agent who is working on getting him a deal in France," said a source.
