Mamelodi Sundowns are understood to be stepping up their interest in a PSL player valued at R35 million, according to insiders privy to information.
The player in question is Sekhukhune United's standout forward, Elias Mokwana who had also been linked to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in the past.

Siya sources have indicated that Sundowns are in front in the race for the player, potentially outpacing rivals Chiefs and Bucs at the moment.
Sources close to Chloorkop and Babina Noko discussed the possibility of an offer being placed for Mokwana.
"There has been interest and inquiries from different clubs but from what I know only Sundowns have approached the club. It seems they are the ones who are more serious at the moment but it's still in the early stages and it's difficult to say whether it's a done deal or not," the source observed.
A second Siya source stated that while an approach is expected to have occured, it remains uncertain if it aligns with the R35 million valuation set by Babina Noko.
"I can't say if that amount, or above or even less (has been tabled) because that's between the parties negotiating. You should also remember that Sekhukhune United wanted the player to go to Europe and that's why they have R35 million as their price tag. This could be a different price all together (for a local club to sign him) and negotiations are ongoing as we speak," the second Siya source stated.
24-year-old Mokwana has made a significant impact since joining Sekhukhune United from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, featuring in 22 DStv Premiership league games, scoring four times, and earning a call-up to Bafana Bafana.
Soccer Laduma reached out to Sekhukhune United and Sundowns for comment, but no response was received by the time this story was published.
