Ex-Bucs Coach Tips Pyramids To Beat Pirates

Ex-Bucs Coach Tips Pyramids To Beat Pirates

A former Orlando Pirates coach has tipped Pyramids FC to edge past the Buccaneers and qualify for the CAF Champions League final.

In a battle of South Africa vs Egypt, both semi-finals are deadlocked at 0-0 after the first leg as Orlando Pirates look to overcome Pyramids FC and Mamelodi Sundowns try to better Al Ahly.

Roger De Sa, speaking to Egyptian publication Yallakora said the two Egyptian sides stood a better chance of making the final than the South African sides.

The ex-Orlando Pirates coach said he expected his former side to be more dominant playing at home but was impressed with Pyramids' level and confidence.

"I watched the Orlando Pirates match against Pyramids, and I was impressed by Pyramids' level," De Sa said, according to Yallakora.

"They played the match with confidence, and it was unfair for the match to end in a draw without achieving a win. I expected Orlando Pirates to be the strongest team on their home ground, and I was surprised by Pyramids' method.

"Pyramids are in a very good position now, and I think they are the most likely to qualify. Of course, Orlando Pirates should not be underestimated because they are good at counter-attacking and are still a strong team, but Pyramids are the best team at the moment."

"I don't think Orlando Pirates have players who have the ability to make an impact. I think they played with their best lineup, and I don't expect major changes. Perhaps individual performance will improve a little, but if Pyramids continues to perform at the same level, they will qualify.

The former Ajax Cape Town manager also anticipated a tough second leg between Sundowns and Al Ahly but gave the nod to The Red Devils.

"Al Ahly has the advantage, especially since they will play the second leg at home, but on the condition that they do not concede any goals," the ex-BiWits boss said.

"If they continue with the same performance, I think they will win,” he added.
