Khune Set To Be Offered To Other PSL Clubs

Khune Set To Be Offered To Other PSL Clubs

After launching a partnership with betting company Top Bet, former Kaizer Chiefs number one goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune still wants to return to the field of action.

In a press conference earlier this week, the Bafana Bafana icon had already expressed his desire to continue playing, as reported by Soccer Laduma

Now, Siya sources close to the goalkeeper have indicated that although he is a partner at Top Bet, he is still a player at heart who wants to play for at least another season or two and how his representatives are working on finding a club for him in January. Khune is believed to be fit and ready to play despite not participating in a single official match this season.

The insiders added that Khune, who has only played for Amakhosi for his whole career, is training hard and is open to offers from other PSL clubs.

"There have been clubs which have inquired about him though nothing really came up and now his representatives are looking at offering him to clubs which could be looking at signing a top class, experienced goalkeeper. As I have said, he still wants to play until at least 40 years of age. You know goalkeepers are like fine wine. They mature with age. That's where he is now," the Siya source stated.

A second Siya source also stated that Khune has never stopped training and keeps himself fit and ready should any club come calling for his services.

"He is still training. He has never stopped training and he has never hidden the fact that he would still want to play and now the good thing is that his partnership with Top Bet doesn't prevent him from continuing with playing if he still wants to play," said the second insider.

"And at the moment - that's his wish. He has stated that he would play, for at the most, for two more seasons as he feels he still has a lot to contribute to the game. He still loves playing. As a player he hasn't retired at all," the second source added.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of preparing this story.

As Khune continues to train and stay fit, his desire to return to professional football remains strong. With his partnership with Top Bet not hindering his playing ambitions, fans will be eager to see if the legendary goalkeeper finds a new club in the upcoming transfer window.
