At the start of the year, the Bafana Bafana international called time on his career with 12-time CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly as he completed a permanent transfer to Qatar SC. While his side have struggled for results since his arrival, the 30-year-old has been steadily contributing to their attack.
In the eight matches he has played so far in the Qatar Stars League, the Witbank native has registered four assists, the latest of which came against Al-Shahania SC this past weekend.
Despite only recently leaving Cairo, it seems the winger could be making a remarkable return to the city – however, this time for Ahly’s arch-rivals, Zamalek. This is according to Amir Hisham, who was speaking on his show on Al-Nahar TV, as he stated that the South Africa international had been offered to the White Knights at the start of the campaign.
The White Castle will be very familiar with Tau, having seen him be prolific for the Club of the Century during his four years at the club. And with Zamalek expected to be active in the off-season transfer window, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star is being touted as a possible target.

The same report does, however, state that despite being aware of his attacking capabilities, the five-time African champions are still pondering the mooted deal.
