Lyle Foster looks set for an extended period on the sidelines given his manager’s latest admission.

The Johannesburg native sustained a serious knee injury during Bafana Bafana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo Brazzaville in October 2024 — a knock that sidelined him for two months.
The versatile striker only began starting regularly for Burnley in January, as he was trying to help the Clarets return to the Premier League via automatic promotion.
However, in the club’s latest 0-0 draw against Derby County, the South African was forced off the pitch just six minutes after coming off the bench. Burnley boss Scott Parker’s initial prognosis did not sound promising, as the Englishman expects his forward to be out for a prolonged period.
“Yeah, it doesn't look good to be honest with you,” Parker said, as per the Burnley Express.
“We'll find out a little bit more tomorrow. We'll scan him first thing tomorrow morning and we'll have a bit more of a clearer idea, but he doesn't look too good.”
It’s alleged that the 24-year-old was visibly upset when he limped off the pitch, with Parker needing to console him moments after he had been substituted in.
“I think it probably sums up the second half,” Parker added. “It was just a stop-start, wasn't it?
“He's come on for three minutes and you bring Lyle on to obviously try and give us another added attacking threat, but then he does his shoulder.

“I'm a bit disappointed for Lyle. I'm hoping that maybe it's not too bad, but it doesn't look that way.”
