Word reaching the Siya crew is that Bafana Bafana international Lebogang Phiri will hold crunch talks with his French club, Paris FC, next month to determine whether they are still keen on buying him outright.
Phiri is on a season-long loan spell from Turkish side Rizespor, and the initial agreement was that he could stay permanently after the two parties signed off on having an option for Paris FC to buy the player before July 1.
The midfielder arrived in France injured, but as soon as he recovered, he was then immediately in the fold as a regular under coach Thierry Laurey – and the option to buy the 28-year-old outright appeared inevitable.
But things have taken a slight turn, which isn't good news for the South African star, considering Phiri hasn't featured at all since February, and now his future at the Ligue 2 club is in serious doubt.
It was in November last year that Soccer Laduma reported Paris FC were pushing for a permanent contract for Phiri and had, in fact, tabled an offer to Rizespor in an effort to bring him back to France, where he'd played previously for Guingamp.
However, following a long spell on the sidelines, indications are that the player's camp is set to hold talks with Paris FC to get a clearer picture of what their intentions are with the midfielder, who still has a year left at Rizespor.
