After the likes of Pitso Mosimane and Rulani Mokwena ventured into North Africa, Benni McCarthy has opened up on what he brings to the table, if he were to be offered opportunities up North.
Mosimane opened a realm of possibilities for South African coaches after he joined Al Ahly in 2020 from Mamelodi Sundowns and became the first sub-Saharan African to coach the Egyptian giants.
The former Bafana Bafana coach won two CAF Champions League titles, two CAF Super Cup titles, one Egyptian Premier League and one Egyptian Cup titles with the Red Devils, before he moved on to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.
After also parting ways with Sundowns, Mokwena has also taken up a project in North Africa, after he was appointed by Wydad Casablanca in July this year.

McCarthy, who is on a coaching market after his contract was not renewed at Manchester United in June, has opened up on what he brings to the table, if he were to be given opportunities by North African giants or big clubs in South Africa.
"The belief firstly one has to have in yourself, as a player I had that belief. I never limited myself to just being an ordinary player, so I think I'm not gonna do that now with my coaching career. I think I can be as good as the best coaches out there, with the right club, the right opportunity, if given a chance," McCarthy said on the On The Whistle Podcast YouTube Channel.

"Because I know the amount of work that I put in and I know how players think, what mentality they need to have if you want to succeed and the brand of football you want to play. You want to play the kind of football that players want to play, be part of a team that plays that brand of football.
"Not necessarily beautiful football, but the brand of football that's identified with winning constantly and a player would want to be part of that and that's what I'd like to give when I was in the driving seat as a manager. That's what I think I can achieve when given an opportunity," McCarthy added.
Former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer was also appointed at Raja Casablanca, as he brought in South African Fadlu Davids as his assistant in June 2023 but the coaching duo went their separate ways after leaving Raja, following their Botola Pro league title success.
