The PSL will end the season with 15 clubs after the executive committee's recommendation to have Royal AM's membership cancelled was supported by the board of governors.
There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding the situation of Royal AM, who had not played a match since December, until a final decision was made at the Sandton Convension Centre on Thursday morning.

The gathering in Sandton, Johannesburg, saw 31 clubs from both the Betway Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship being represented.
Royal AM's expulsion will see the Premiership finishing with 15 clubs for the first time. This means that the club which finishes in 15th position will go into the end of season play-offs and the club at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship will take Royal AM's place next season.
Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize came into trouble with the South African Revenue Services, who took over the club to recover R40 million in taxes owed by the public figure. A curator was appointed to run the club and it was put up for sale. Businessman Roy Moodley made an offer to buy the club, but it did not materialise.

The PSL executive committee had no choice but to recommend that the club should be expelled from the league and that decision has finally been made. The expulsion of Royal AM means their results from this season are null and void, meaning clubs which secured three points from them will no longer have those points. The season will finish with each club on 28 matches.
