Tshegofatso Mabasa has broken his silence on his pursuit of Orlando Pirates' all-time goal-scoring record, with the striker now just 11 goals behind Benedict Vilakazi.
With 41 goals to his name, he has equaled Phumlani Mkhize and Lesley Manyathela as the joint second-highest scorers for the club in the Premier Soccer League era.
The Bloemfontein-born striker, who finished as the League's top goal scorer in the 2023/24 campaign has now set his sights on "Tso's record of 52 goals for the Buccaneers.
"It is something that my teammates have made me aware of, it's not something that I've looked at personally, but the guys have encouraged me and motivated me to go through with this, and stay focused," Mabasa said at the Soweto Derby press conference.

"It's up to me to bury every chance that comes my way and claim that record because they believe that I am one of the best strikers this country has ever seen and they support me a lot. So it's something that I want to achieve come end of this season," he said.
